In the nutritional treatment of schizophrenia the main goal is to correct biochemical imbalances. In schizophrenia, we can assess cases with lab tests and target our treatment accordingly. After obtaining detailed patient history and lab results, individualized treatment involves the use of nutritional supplements, nutraceuticals, amino acids, and botanicals. Dietary changes are also implemented in treatment. A comprehensive plan is customized for each individual.
Once treatment has begun, one of the early signs I note in good responders is that they smile and soon are involved or motivated to participate in the family. Some comments include “the difference is like night and day”, “we’ve got our daughter back” and “I feel like a new person”.
