ORTHOMOLECULAR  MEDICINE

Raymond J Pataracchia ND founded the Naturopathic Medical Research Clinic in 2001. With 15 years of literature research on nutritional approaches to mental health, and several years of clinical practice, he has developed an optimal model of wellness with a focus on prevention and treatment of mental health through clinical nutrition.

Orthomolecular Medicine incorporates a Targeted Nutritional Treatment that attempts to correct a patient’s key biochemical imbalances.  In terms of mental illness, extensive research shows that brain function problems may be caused by stress and many other biochemical factors that extend profound harmful effects.  Left uncontrolled, these factors create chronic states of mental and physical illness. Mental illness is due not only to an undernourished brain, but also to a host of other physical and biochemical problems. The brain cannot function well if the digestive tract, liver, adrenal, or thyroid are compromised.  There are many biochemical trends that influence mental health and when basic biochemical pathways are compromised the whole body is affected. For patients who have been diagnosed with a mood, perception, thought, or behavior disorder, it is important to know that nutritional interventions can be done safely and can complement standard drug treatment.

NATUROPATHIC  MEDICINE

Naturopathic Medicine is a health care system that addresses the root causes of illness.  In Naturopathic Medicine each patient is seen as an individual and is treated by considering individual physical, mental, emotional, genetic, social, and environmental factors.  Naturopathic Doctors are highly educated and part of a regulated healthcare profession that integrates science and standard medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural therapies.  Naturopathic Doctors work in partnership with other regulated healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive the most comprehensive and effective care possible.
